The Story

The rain has passed and the riverbank is calling. Harley the Porgi suits up with tiny boots and a very serious sniff, while Dad brings a bucket and a map that mostly says “snacks here.”

They search the shallows for shiny bits and curious shapes, gently brushing away mud to uncover pebbles, bottle glass, and a button that Harley is sure belonged to a pirate. By sunset, their pockets are clinking, their paws are muddy, and Harley declares it the best treasure hunt ever.

Harley’s Lost Rubber Boot

A bright yellow rubber boot with a splash of mud on the toe — proof of one fearless furry explorer and a very splashy day at the river. Rumour has it, Harley still checks every puddle for its twin.

Harley's note: "I started the day with four!"

Fun Facts

Mudlarking Marvels: Mudlarking means searching riverbanks for old, lost, or interesting objects. Some finds are hundreds of years old — others are just… snacks Harley buried last week.
Boots and Balance: Rubber boots help keep feet dry by repelling water — but once they fill up, they get really heavy! Harley learned that lesson the splashy way.
Behind the Scenes: This story was inspired by a lovely English woman named Nicola White, whose YouTube channel about mudlarking sparked Dad’s curiosity (and Harley’s appetite for adventure).
